THE HISTORY BEHIND ANDERSON BULLDOGGES |
I was born into a family that has always been surrounded by bulldogs. My earliest childhood memories include sharing my life with and loving bulldogs. In fact, I was around 10 years old before I realized that other breeds of dogs existed. Before then, I thought that anything other than a bulldog was just a dog. I have owned various other breeds in my lifetime, but the bulldog has always remained closest to my heart. Throughout my childhood, my family and I owned bulldogs that were a mixture of American and English Bulldogs. Those dogs were not registered back then, but they were what is referred to today as the Olde English Bulldogge. Those unregistered, mixed bulldogs proved to be the greatest dogs that we had ever owned. They were beloved family pets who captured our hearts and brought many smiles to our faces. Due to the fact that the Olde English Bulldogge is a relatively new breed and not widely recognized, as an adult I was unaware of its existence. I often thought about the bulldogs that I had grown up loving and I wished that I would have another some day. In 2004 my husband and I began searching online for English Bulldogs and in our quest we stumbled across the Olde English Bulldogge. As I looked at pictures and read information relating to the breed, I was ecstatic that we had found the type of bulldog that I had grown to love so deeply as a child. We immediately made the decision to purchase an Olde English Bulldogge as our family companion. After much searching and deliberation we contacted a breeder and purchased a brindle female pup that would steal our hearts and change our lives forever. That pup came to us from Joyce Sullivan of Sullivan Kennels and we named her Sullivan's Ante-Up Dolly, but called her Annie. Her name was a tribute to the poker legend, Doyle "Texas Dolly" Brunson. We spent the next 2 years spoiling that girl and enjoying the affection and happiness that bulldogges bring into your life. We couldn't have loved her any more than we did and we are grateful for the 2 very special years that we shared with her. We lost our Annie to a tragic accident that left us heart broken and searching for a way to cope with that loss. My husband insisted that another Olde English Bulldogge puppy was the only solution to our grief. We were fortunate enough to locate Ron and Sandy Wall of Kings River Bulldogges who owned our Annie's sister and, as fate would have it, Annie's sister had a litter of pups at that time. We drove 15 hours one way to get our new puppy. While driving home, we decided to name her KRB's Double Down Dolly in honor of our Annie. As we began bonding with our new baby girl during the long drive home, we made the decision to begin a breeding program and be forever surrounded by these wonderful dogges. From that day forward we have continued expanding our bulldogge family and working to improve and promote the breed. Our Bulldogges are our passion and they are members of our family. We couldn't imagine life without them. ~ Brandy Anderson

October 2004 - November 2006 “Annie” was our inspiration for starting a breeding program and she will always be our baby girl. We will remember her forever.
